Oliver Tambo Chair on Adaptation to Climate Change in Arid Zones

Contact

The Oliver Tambo Chair on Adaptation to Climate Change in Arid Zones (ESORCCAS) is one of the 10 Chairs in Africa – funded by the Oliver and Adelaide Tambo Foundation. The main focus of the Chair is inspired by the ideals of Oliver Tambo, an Africanist who believed that African problems should be addressed by Africans, hence the need to give young Africans the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to solve their own problems.

The chair is based in Mozambique and managed by the National Research Fund (FNI) and aims at training postgraduate students (master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral). It is implemented by UEM, jointly with the Faculty of Agronomy and Forestry Engineering as well as the Faculty of Science, in partnerships with national and international universities (Instituto Superior Politécnico de Gaza, University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria and University of Namibia) including national and international institutions working in the field of climate change.
