UEM Games

The Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), through its Academic Centre for Sports and Physical Education, holds an annual sporting and social event called the UEM Games.

The event was created in 2008 and is held nationwide for UEM students. It includes all faculties and schools outside Maputo. It is part of the extracurricular, cultural, and social activities among students from various courses taught at UEM, and other Mozambican higher education institutions (IES) are also invited to participate in the program.

 Date, location, and target group

The UEM Games, as indicated in the academic calendar, are held during the week between the first and second semesters in July each year at University main Campus in Maputo. The sports include athletics, basketball, football, futsal, volleyball, chess, and taekwondo for both female and male players. The number of participants varies between 1,000 and 1,200, including students and the organizing committee.
