UEM Gala

The Eduardo Mondlane University Gala is a biennial event celebrating excellence. The primary objective of the event is to publicly recognise and reward lecturers, researchers, members of technical administrative staff (TAs) and students who have had an outstanding performance or their duties made a distinguished contribution to achieving UEM’s mission and vision. The UEM Gala is also an opportunity for the University to formally recognise the contribution of its partners and individuals in carrying out programmes in different areas of social life that are of interest to the institution.

In accordance with the UEM Awards Policy and Regulations, the following prizes are presented at the UEM Gala:

  • The Educator/Alchemist Award

This award recognises the merit of teachers for their outstanding contribution to the development of successful pedagogical activities, taking into account, but not limited to, the goals of the University. It also seeks to recognise the important role of teachers in shaping minds and promoting social emancipation.

  • UEM Science Award

The aim of this award is to recognize the special participation of UEM professors and researchers in scientific discovery, innovation and the progress of humanity, through scientific research and the dissemination of its results over the last two years.

  • Publication and Innovation Award

This award aims to recognise professors, researchers and students, as well as exceptional members of UEM’s Technical Administrative Staff, who have made outstanding contributions to the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and innovation.

  • First Degree of Merit Award

This award recognises technical and administrative staff whose interventions have transformed the structure and delivery of services to the university community and wider society.

  • External Partner Award

This award is given to the partner who has provided support to UEM towards achieving its strategic objectives, either by mobilizing and resources available, or through other important actions.
